500 things

Since Spring is knocking on our door... (do you hear that Spring? Knock dammit!) I figured I'd get a jump on spring cleaning, kind of like really premature nesting, you know since I'm not even a little bit pregnant right now. So I've decided to get rid of 500 things before the end of the month. In order to hold myself accountable I thought I would share this goal with the whole world, all 3 of my readers!
The rules:
-everything counts as one, but papers do not (I have thousands of sheets of scrapbooking paper I'm sure) ergo a pair of socks is two things-- 500 is a BIG number!
-I've told Adam that if I get rid of 20 books I should get a Kindle, he's mulling that over
-I'm going to donate as much as I can, and clothes that are undonatable will go into my scrap bin, but will still count as removed from the house
-I should count the stuff I bring into the house against my 500, but I'm not (my game- my rules!)
-I will not save clothes, I will be ruthless. I figure that if I lose weight after baby #7 I should deserve new stuff, ya know? Also Adam may not know, but I'm going to be ruthless to his side of the closet too. Uhm, Honey, those polyester sweaters which make my skin crawl? GONE! And if you really have a deep connection to that too small wool suit, it will be in it's best interest to hide it, the world does not need to see 2 inches of ankle and wrist at formal functions.
-I won't get rid of baby stuff, after all I need to have babies #2-7 first!

I've decided to do this because Trixie is starting to take up more space and we only have 1600 square feet, and I have a lot of clothes that I just don't wear any more. After all lovely dress pants that I wore to the bank are just not suitable for playgrounds and sand boxes.
I also want to make more room in our bedroom so that Trixie can have a play area in there to allow for us to have a couple more minutes of sleep in the morning. Trixie o'clock is frighteningly early!

wish me luck! Also I dare you to try as well!

blooging? blogging???

What is this pastime that people speak of: blogging?
Oh isn't that when you regularly write stuff for people to read and comment on? Hmm I might be familiar.
BUT, how does one manage this with a small person always trying to climb their leg, or doing cute things like being a kazoo savant?
Me thinks I need to just get up and do it!
Anyhow I have about 10 posts floating around in my head, and I will get to posting them, when said small person isn't crawling up my leg.

Survivor!

I watched Survivor last night and the skinny science guy, Bob, made his own idol. It seems that this has been a trend in past seasons. Ozzy made one last season, and Yao Man another season, and I think someone else did another time, so it's common. I started to think, that I should either create a "make your own idol kit" or just take the fixin's to make my own if I should ever go on the show.
(not that I plan on it, but you know, things happen.)
Also if I ever go on the show, I will swear on Adam or Trixie to get what I want, you know why I can do this with no shame? Because it's a game! Oh and really what does it mean to swear on someone? Is it like no trade-seys? Or no take-sey back-sies? So then kinda by definition Survivor is just a higher stakes playground game?
Interesting.

Oh yeah I go to New Zealand tomorrow! Whoo hoo!

You know, that song!

So I was in Canada last week, more precisely I was in Kelowna. It snowed a lot, it sucked. I think that I was too pregnant to not be home, because I am sure that the whole nesting thing kicked in while I was gone and it made for a loooooong week.

Anyhow while I was driving from the airport rental car place to my hotel in Westbank this exchange came on the radio. It made me laugh and be grateful that I don't live there anymore because there might be something in the water.

radio girl (RG): It's the 80s and 90s all request lunch, call in with your requests!
caller girl (CG): Hi, can you play that song? That Pat Benatar song? It's been in my head all day.
RG: Sure, which one would you like?
CG: I don't know the name of it. *giggle*
RG: Hmm, can you sing a couple bars of it?
CG: No, I don't know it. *giggle*
RG: Oh....
CG: interrupting, it's the one from Guitar Hero 3!
RG: Oh, is it this one? singing Hit me with your best shot....
CG: Yeah! that's the one, from Guitar Hero!

thunk thunk <<-- that was me banging my head on the steering wheel.

I think it's a little sad that people are learning about 80s and 90s music from video games. Or even better, Curt Cobain is now considered a legend! That really blows my mind because I remember anticipating new Nirvana albums being released, and now he's a legend. Golly if I hadn't already felt old.

I approve!

I saw this over at Mighty Girl. She also has a couple shopping sites, Mighty Goods and Mighty Junior. I really love these.

And that will conclude my homage to Mighty Girl and my link heavy post.

Housecleaning.

Late last week our main computer died. Dead. Ka-put. Well from what I understand anyhow. I couldn't check my email, read blogs, or write my own, therefore the computer was dead. However, my husband, being the geeky genius he is resurrected it, and restored my files. Which I didn't panic about until he mentioned that he restored them.

Adam: How many pieces did you have saved?
Me: Saved? Pieces?
Adam: Your writing, on the computer....
Me: {immediate panic attack} I had an eighty page document! It can't be lost. ohmygod ohmygod, CRAP!
Adam: Okay, was it this one? {brings up a document}
Me: yay!

Not to say that I don't over react a little bit, but yeah I do.

So anyhow what I'm saying is that I lost some of my favourites, I can remember the titles of some, but I can't remember Colleen's and a couple others that I am sure don't read this. So uh, Colleen, can you email your website, puh-lease?

Also...
My trainer has started her own business and she is having a Saturday morning group workout in the Mountain View/ Sunnyvale area, if there is anyone interested let me know and I can get you in it too. The first week is free and she rocks. I really like how she works me out (hmm that sounds kinda kinky, but it's not). She's really inventive and workouts are never boring. And also, I have muscle definition, really and truly, and you can kinda see it, even though I have a slight protective layer! It's really exciting! Anyhow if you are in the bay area let me know.
