27 month newsletter

Dear Beatrix, or Bee-twix as you’ve been calling yourself lately.

This month you turn 27 months old, or as I tell everyone, you’re two.  I’ve stopped telling your age in months because I get funny looks when I mention that you’re twenty something months old.

Last month you started really talking about yourself  in the 3rd person, and just as quickly as that started, it’s pretty much stopped.  You’ve learned about “mine”, “yours”, “I”, “me”, “my” etc., which has eliminated the 3rd person.  I love how you proclaim how something is “mine own” as in “Daddy I want mine own ice cream.”  You’re quick to label things as “mine” and “yours”, and when you label something yours, you generally bring it to the person.

We’ve moved on from playing with numbers to working on letters more.  You’re learning them at quite the pace, and you’ll list what each letter is.  A is for Daddy, B is for Trixie, C is for Candice, D is for Mama, G is for George, H is for Hudson, and L is for Leland.  You know the other letters to L as well, but those don’t correspond to a person so you are less excited by them.  I predict that you might be reading by the end of summer!

This month you’ve figured out how to put on your own shoes, and you’re hit and miss if you get them on the proper feet.  You’re really good at switching them up if I tell you that they’re on the wrong feet.  It cracks me up to see you walking around with your shoes on the wrong feet.  When we are getting ready to go somewhere I can ask you to go and put your shoes on and it buys me a couple minutes of time to finish bustling around to get stuff ready for us to go out.  And when we go out we’re mostly going to “see friends” as you put it.  You get so excited to see friends and talk about them the whole way to wherever we’re going.  Recently when we were in Canada you informed me several times a day that you missed your friends.  It was cute, and heart breaking.  You were happy to meet other friends, but you wanted to see your friends Leland and Lelani the most.

Your eating is the same.  You’ll eat a decent amount every 5th or so meal, and you eat the best socially.  When ever we go to playdate you will eat and eat and eat, and I always feel bad, like I”m not feeding you enough, although I always give you a snack before we leave.  Silly girl!  While you don’t eat a lot most days, you will try anything, and I am so grateful that you’re adventurous with your eating, now if you will just eat more.  Although I don’t really stress, you are growing well and are the eptiome of health.

All in all this was a great month, like all of the others.  Every day I realized how blessed I am to have you and your brother as my children.  I love you so much!

love always,

Mama.
